Hiyono Fansubs

It will be almost a year since this fansubs group has been founded. Some personal reminders I’d like to give you all:

1. Updates your CCCP codec to the latest 2010 version!
2. We are still slowly redoing the whole first 25 episodes because the encoding for 1-20 is bad and 21-25 need to have font styles updated so they’re more readable + to fix mistakes/inconsistencies/timing errors that only someone who watches it in slow motion would notice/and whatever other nitpicky things there are to do (Currently, episode 04 redux is on QC). You can get the overhaul episodes through Xdcc IRC download.
3. Don’t be shy to comment for feedback improvement.
4. Always recruiting new member in the staff, though by preference, Eastern Time zone (-5 GMT).
5. FMA OVA 04 Blu-Ray will be out when we can get the damn Blu-Ray Disc! (You can always donate, but no promise here)

We cannot take on any more shows unless we get another interested translator. Seems to be a major problem occurring lately for many quality groups. No need to name, you know them.

If there’s one thing you leechers need to know; we are only 6 permanent staff members, and probably more than half of us are full-time students. So, don’t expect too much from us. That being said, 49 is stuck where it is until Van’s school stuff is taken care of this week.

Some Updates to give:

1. Translator is about to come back from his trip, it’s unlikely that he’ll get on IRC before September 8th. Van’s back.
2. Two of us already started school…
3. Still no Raw for FMA OVA 4: We have a raw for Yet Another Man’s Battlefield now, but it’s kinda LQ (like the first release we did of OVA 2 only the sound isn’t messed up), I went ahead and timed it (I hate timing blank lines) and now Van is working on the trans

To anyone who still lurks our website (spam and ranting can be found there), best of luck it’s made of Good News, Everyone! Both eps 44 & 45 of FT are on the final stages of hammering out all lingering translation issues/questions I (refinder) have about them, then 44 goes to QC and 45 goes to typesetting… however…

Bad News, Everyone, my nets are messed up and I keep missing my chance to talk to Van about the eps, more bad news is that May is the sole reason the do-overs of the older eps of FT are being held up and the reason why none of the first 5 FMA Short Skits/4 KOMA theater have been released yet (trans, timing, editing, etc. is all done, just needs the damn typesetting).

But [intemperate what type this is for yourself] News, Everyone! May is making us prioritize FMA OVA 4 over eps 44 & 45 of FT, so who knows what things will get done in what order!

May’s message: My comp is on repairs. Can’t do shit for the week. Have a nice day~ Comp is back from repairs, but freaking had to reformat the whole thing. Basically lost every data, fansubs-wise…

Okay, to make this formal, I’ve put up a donation box. The money will be used to pay the server hosting, which is about 9$ each month. Not much right?

Also, I’ve talked with our translator, and he’s willing to translate new project Bakemonogatari. Of course, expect something different from us. That been said, I need the BDISO/BDMV for this project, so I can give it to our encoder. So, if anyone happen to have them, contact us through mail or IRC, or through comment box.

Again, we plan on doing FMA OVA 4, but we aren’t too sure where we’ll get the BD Raw yet. Probably from the same guy, or if someone else can offer some assistance, it would be gladly appreciated.

By the way, the Fairy Tail batch 1-10 is slowly coming up.

Some good news to share:

• One more month till FMA OVA 4 comes out. We of course will try to get it down in 2-3 days of the time an adequate raw becomes available
• Fairy Tail, we are so close to catch up, Karaoke is under surgery.
• Batch for the previous episodes, we’ll release the first episodes one by one on IRC, and we’ll release the batch once we get 10 episodes. Again, they are getting completely redone.
• Kanokon OVA will be under MOT name tag. You can expect it soon, once we caught up with Fairy Tail (or before depending on the speed of aforementioned catch up).
• We’ll try to aim one OVA each month.

Some Bad News:

• Still can’t get a reply from Shindou-Anime for their Hunter x Hunter Pilot Raw.
• We’ll need another translator to pick up a new show this Fall.
• We are still unable to find a AFX karaoke maker.
• Stupid Anidb won’t update our group.
• Mirai Nikki OAD is pushed to December dammit!
• And sadly, we will not do One Piece 10th movie, Strong World,  due to lack of time for school~

Personally, what could we possibly sub this Fall?

- Translator is currently in Japan, but we still get in touch with him. We are already up to epi 34 for translations.

- The Batch of FT is likely being hold-up by none other than myself. Doing all those missing signs due to my lack of experience, is really taking a toll in my motivation. But, it’s slowly getting done.

- Editor/Timer going to New York for vacation from July 9 – 21. So, I’m likely to handle all the past episodes, when he’ll be off for this trip of his.

- FMA Brotherhood OVA 4

- FMA Brotherhood Short Skits (Someone accidently deleted the scripts up to the latest ones, so we’ll have to redo it again)

Project to pick up

- Mirai Nikki OAD

- Hunter x Hunter Pilot (if we ever get a good Raw compared to our current one)

As always, we need a new translator to pick up an additional show, so we can get that other editor of ours to work during summer. And as always, drop by to our IRC channel.

refinder: I’d like a translation checker so that when out main TL can’t be contacted I’ll have someone to ask about the lingering lines I have questions about. Seriously, 32 – 34 is stuck in TL check before it can get stuck in typesetting and then QC hell.

Some Rants:

Seriously… WTF? I uploaded the latest version of FT 34′s script and then everything in the scripts folder deleted itself. That’s bullshit, BULL SHIT. Lucky for everyone else in this group I keep all the scripts I’m currently working on in some folder in my comp, I’m hoping the guy I was training to be an editor did the same with the FMA shorts or I’ll be seriously pissed off. Likewise, we are also covering the end of our semester. Especially when we can even consider ourselves as a small, it’s kinda of a problem. So, we’ll be stepping back a little while we get our finals done for the next 2 weeks.

Also, our translator will be going on a vacation trip (who knows how long),  and I will be going on a short trip at the end of May. Therefore, we’d like to get new staff members, experienced or not! And no, you won’t be working on Fairy Tail!

- We know how it isn’t easy to get Translators, so we’re ready to hear of your own projects.

- Timers, little test by our infamous Refinder, as he wants to cut some slacks on timing, so he can handle editing with more time.

On the good sides;

• Translator is already translating the latest episode + new opening/ending
• Most of all the other episodes are at typesetting stage.

After a little discussion within the group,  it would be wise not to pick any TV Spring show because of the major Finals coming at the week of May.

However, we are promising those projects will be done by us:

• Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood OVA 3
• Trigun – Badlands Rumble movie
• Mirai Nikki pilot story (and tv serie if ever out)

Possible but yet to be confirmed among us:

• One Piece – Strong World
• Negima – Mou Hitotsu no Sekai
• Gintama The Movie – Shinyaku Benizakura-hen (Joint project if possible)
• Daa Daa Daa! (remaining shitty video quality episodes)
• some random show somewhere this year…

We are also recruiting a new set of:

• Translator(s) – Experienced or not, as long as you are good
• Editor(s) – Experienced or not, as long as you are good
• Timer(s) – Experienced would be better
• Raw capper – Be able to get the Raw/DVD/BD and be constantly on IRC

This new set will allow us to pick another show, separately from the Fairy Tail team.

Translator is back from his little trip, but is busy with university work this week. We’d rather not force any fansubbing work since this is a hobby to begin with (Or voluntary work).

As for many of us, Pokemon is out. Just guess what we will be doing this week!

Fear not for those who are keeping up with our Fairy Tail releases, as soon as the translator gets some free time we’ll be rolling faster than ever.

About the spring project, we considered doing a joint project, but the chances are we are canceling this. Rather, we aren’t even sure if we’ll be able to pick anything up from this upcoming season.

Anyways, we’ll be idling until we feel like doing anything.

Edit: Type for yourself may, I’m busy as hell right now trying to get everything ready for when the TL gets back while still enjoying my spring break.

Here’s some news status report:

Fairy Tail:

Since we got stalled on Fairy Tail last year until Van came to our group, we know most of you guys are likely getting the latest episodes from other fansubs by now. Fear not for those who are still getting our releases, we will eventually catch up to the latest one. (Possibly in April)

Recruitment:

- We desire a Raw Capper whatever for Transport Stream or BD/DVD ISO.

- An Editor would be also helpful for new projects only.

- Timer would be good to loosen up the amount of work Refinder is doing right now.

- Quality Checkers are always welcomed.

Onto the main topic, we decided to work on Ikkitousen Xtreme Xecutor because Chihiro seems like they will not pick it up but also because our encoder is interested in it. So we are in need of new staff members (just 3 new members would suffice) since it is hard to work on 2 shows weekly with just 5 members. We don’t want to be speedsubers, but quality subbers, however most of the founding members only have half a year of experience at fansubbing. The quality steadily improves with each project we take on.

Possible Side-projects:

• Toradora SOS (Currently on QC stage)
• FMA short skits (Typesetting darn…)
• Mahou Sensei Negima! Mou Hitotsu no Sekai (As soon as Refinder starts on the manga)
• One Piece – Strong World – (it’s still a big “maybe,” but we need to try a movie to fansub once)
• Trigun Badlands Rumble (TL asked for it)
• Etc. (We are always free to listen to your suggestion)
