Hiyono Fansubs

So, it’s been a couple of months since we’ve really done anything. Sure, some batch episodes are finished every once in a while, but that doesn’t really count.

What’s the problem, you ask? Well, frankly, we’re stuck in a quagmire because we don’t have an active translator or TLC.

So even though we’ve got a bunch of episodes roughly translated, we can’t do anything with them until they’ve been checked by someone who actually understands Nihongo (unless you want craptastic subs).

To that end, we’ve decided to start recruiting again instead of simply waiting around. More on that after the break. Continue reading →

So, seeing as there has been a lack of progress on everything, here’s an update:

Fairy Tail

-Van is still busy doing whatever it is he is doing, so we’re still stalled for ep 96+
-15 re-re-re-re-re-INFINITY-redux is currently uploading to the bots, so that should be available soon.
-Still waiting on Backstab28 and DarkAesthir to QC all the accursed old eps seeing as that’s the only progress we can make right now.
-Up to ep 99 is timed and ep 100 is currently being timed. Been playing catch up for awhile and got so far behind thanks to last semester that I probably won’t be up to date with timing nonsense/blank lines for awhile as I wait for them to be correct/filled in.

Guilty Crown

I’m not involved with this, but here’s what I know:
-May hasn’t talked with the TLer for this series since Christmas.  TL is busy with exam till february
-Sanguine (the editor) has been afk for awhile. San is moving away to a new place.
-BackStab28 wants to take on the role as editor.
- Palmje is also moving because of work.

Not much info I’m afraid.

We’ll get it done when we get it done, whenever that is.

So we are finally picking up the pace on releases now, but there’s always going to be schedule conflict due to school and work. We will try to get Batch 02 (epi 12-24) out by the end of the year. Our new QCer, BackStab28, is currently doing a fine job at this position. As for me, I gotta rework the OP2 karaoke because of lag issues…

I wish to thank all the people who have given donations to us so far.

As you’ve probably heard, Fairy Tail OVA 3 will be bundled with volume 31 tankōbon. Therefore, I’ll increase the monthly donation goal to account for it. I believe it will be out in February, so we have plenty of time to get the $35 needed.

There’s also a new Toradora OVA exclusively available with the Blu-Ray disk set coming out this December. We can’t just buy the disk with the OVA on it, and it’s too expensive to buy the whole BD set… The staff don’t want me to buy it out of my own pocket, and it would sound ridiculous to ask for donations for it. Waiting for a BDISO to surface on the internet would take who knows how long. Donations are always appreciated, but we’d like to hear feedback from you all first, like if someone would be willing to provide us with the BDISO… The whole BD set is about $430+ shipping = $450?

- Fairy Tail OVA 3 = $35
– Toradora BD set = $450 => for  Toradora SOS and the exclusive OVA special 
- Yearly server hosting fees = $120

So we’re still really far behind and I’m (refinder) really starting to get ticked since QC is what’s holding up EVERYTHING. I can’t just release the eps as they are right now since the MAGICAL SCIENCE GOD awful OP that starts with ep 86 still needs its English translation lyrics edited (normally san does that but, you see the problem).

Then there’s the OVAs, I want to get those out sometime this week, but I’m not going to promise anything. Oh, and now I’m hearing there will be a third one… fan-fricking-tastic. That means 15 times more work for me when it comes out and I have no idea if it will be filler or based on another side story (like the last 2) or be mostly filler.

School has also started up and not 10 minutes ago from typing these words I finally finished timing ep 96…

To keep this brief before I start throwing around words that I shouldn’t be throwing at people, if I can get Backstab28 to do stuff (he’s got a cold), then stuff will start getting released in a more prompt manner rather than sitting around for months on end after it’s already been translated, timed, edited and had the karaoke done.

We’d like you people to answer this poll so we can get a general idea.

We actually plan to release 10 bit in place of 8 bit by the third year of Fairy Tail. (Epi 99)

As for our current status, we’re likely to get some new episodes out by next week. (Hopefully)

Depending on how much time Sanguine has, we might even get a batch release out!

As for 86 to current, the karaoke is still being worked on. Luckily, I’m already done with the opening (which sucks by the way, it’s all engrishy).

So we’re being suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper slow since (encase you missed it in the side bar) 76′s .ts was bad, this triggered a chain reaction. We waited a week to see if another .ts for 76 would surface, it didn’t. The we finally gave in and used the leo raw for 76, during this time work on the OVA was already at the QC stage but the QCers were busy with stuff (they still are). Since we waited until 77 had already aired before working on 76 delays became compounded. By the time Van and Ref had worked out all the editing with 76 and pushed it through to QC Van’s finals were about to start, so 77+ had no translation work done on them until June 1st. In the mean time the OVA and 76 were still on QC, the plan was to release them before Van’s finals were done. This obviously didn’t happen since (and I cannot over/understate this) the QCers are busy.

(Updated 6/14/2011) As of right now, the OVA is on QC, 76-82 are on QC and karaoke shifting/attack k-timing, and 83 is on seeker for encoding. We’ve already busted our asses getting 77-79 up to QC in just 4 days, might even get 80 up to QC later today. And we did. Palmje is having trouble with aegisub now, so that’s a whole new set of issues.

Moar update (6/26/2011): So OVA 2 is timed now. I’m going to release OVA 1 on the 30th (sooner if san actually QCs it) unless I’m incapacitated in some way. I say the 30th so I won’t feel bad when I gave san every possible chance to QC it since I know he really want to QC it. Also, up to 84 is on QC.

I could’ve released stuff already, but I wouldn’t have considered it done since sanguine and palmje haven’t had time to do stuff to it since they have JOBS to work at for monies.

tl;dr
We’re not gonna release these eps until they’re good and damn ready.

Well, our Raw capper kinda messed up the capping script. Therefore, we don’t have the actual .ts Raw. At the moment, we’re considering using the shared Raws (the public raws) to clean up this the little mess. Those who are waiting should have some patience.

Also, volume 26 of the Fairy Tail manga will have an OVA bundled with it: “Welcome to Fairy Hills” (it’s based on another bonus chapter, google it for more information). We’ll sub it when it comes out… that would mean the OVA comes out around April, so whenever we get it.

Additionally, if anyone can provide a .ts of Fairy Tail 57, we’d be grateful. We’d also be grateful if anyone could provide the OVA when it comes out, otherwise you could donate and I’ll see what I can do with it. That goes same for FMA OVA 4 BD, I might just order the BD, then rip it… But it requires your help with donation (we’re all poor who do this as a hobby). Thank you for your understanding.

First of all, I’d like to thanks to those who just recently donated. But I’ll give a more in-depth explanation starting from there.

Second of all, this is may’s post, so I’m gonna edit it to lessen the misunderstandings as much as possible.

The server hosting cost about $10 each month, so I pay it in one lump some each year during August; if I pay it month-by-month it’s less expensive, however that makes me feel uncertain about our fansub group’s stability. I reduced the target to one year, and yes, another idea was to host our own bot on IRC for only $20! 100mb/s connection as well!

With December pissing us all off thanks to finals and such, hopefully we won’t end up as dead as we were last year. We’re also planning to sub the Mirai Nikki OAD, despite Air Gear OVA not out yet (waiting on whoever the editor for that project is to do something), but it’s slowly coming together. Fairy Tail takes priority on our to-do list as always though.

Just a note: even with Elitist-Fags out of the picture, we are still using Transport Stream with Closed Caption~

The FT batch work is getting done slowly (because may is a raging perfectionist who can’t leave good enough alone). Here’s the proof.

We’ve been trying to get a Blu-Ray version FMA OVA 04, but no one has come through for us yet…

And the FMA short skits will start to be released as soon as may decides to start working on the damn typesetting.

The batch idea will consist of Fairy Tail episode 1-10 and 11-20 and onward. However, we’ll be improving video quality by an inch. By that, it means using Constant Rate Factor through encoding. Also, we noticed some flaws in the scripts. We’ll redo each episode one by one. New karaoke will be worked on the first Opening/Ending.  No idea of the second Karaoke yet. We just might go for hardsubs eventually.

We’ll be releasing the version of the episodes that will be in the batch torrents over IRC as we get them done.

And of course they all have to mess with EVERYTHING on the bot all the time…
