Translation Notes:
15:41 - Commercial makers such as Kagiya and Tamaya in Tokyo were especially famous for their fireworks, and it was a common practice to shout “Kagiya” or “Tamaya” with each firework burst. You can still hear this kind of shouting in the crowds today.
16:29 – Houheikyuu (treasure jar constellation): “Hou” can mean “retribution” or “cannon,” and “houhei” can mean “gunner/artilleryman.”
17:54 – a straight man (tsukkomi) and a funny man (boke)—trading jokes at great speed. Most of the jokes revolve around mutual misunderstandings, double-talk, puns and other verbal gags. Boke (ボケ) comes from the verb bokeru (惚ける or 呆ける) which carries the meaning of “senility” or “air headed-ness” and is reflected in the boke‘s tendency for misinterpretation and forgetfulness. The word tsukkomi (突っ込み) refers to the role the second comedian plays in “butting in” and correcting the boke‘s errors. It is common for tsukkomi to berate boke and hit them on the head with a swift smack, often with a pleated paper fan called a harisen (張り扇 ).
A few info about our releases:
- We use the mage term over wizard because;
-Refinder:
While it is true that withing it the content material there are instances of “Wizard” being written in big English letters, it does not necessarily fit into normal conversation due to the connotations it normally carries with it.
Wizard implies that the person is a male (penis), witch is the female (vagina) counter part of this particular word. Mage however, is a nice unisex word with a broad meaning that can easily fit with all the various times it is used to describe characters of both both genders (and mixed genders and non-genders such as vehicles), thus we use mage.
-Necoyama:
1. Mage is more generalized.
As far as pure definitional terms go, I have no idea if this is the case. In popular culture, however, terms such as witch and wizard have come to be associated with more specialized types of magic. Wizards and witches are more closely tied to things such as casting spells and mixing potions. A sorcerer knows arcane magic. A mage, however, is simple a magic user. It is a good term to use when a series has a wide variety of skills, all under the banner of “madoushi” (magic person). It’s just a lot easier.
2. Other terms have “baggage.”
Harry, you’re a wizard (you are also now reading this in Hagrid’s voice). “Wizard” often conjures up a prefabricated concept in people’s minds, and is easier to ridicule because of it. Mage? Last place I heard that was Final Fantasy games. Case in point – spellchecker doesn’t even recognize it as a legitimate word. It would probably be best if Fairy Tail didn’t didn’t resemble more than it already does (*coughcoughnakamacough*).
3. It’s shorter.
Izzat a bad reason?
- I (personal preference) personally love watching shounen series with attack fonts but don’t blame my simplicity and color choices… I know how bad I am with colors
- Karaoke Softsubs, everything softsubs…
- About typesetting, it’s hell! We won’t do sound effects typesetting because we believe you aren’t as dumb as we consider dumb people to understand the meaning of some sound effect typesetting. We’ll typeset if we want to typeset. Usually, we only do the important ones.
